Better healthcare is on the way for residents of Muthambi and Gatunga, as Muthambi Health Centre and Gatunga Model Health Centre are set to be elevated to Level 4 health facilities.
The upgrade will see both centres gain comprehensive Maternal and Child Health Units — complete with Operating Theatres and Newborn Units — bringing specialized maternal and newborn care closer to home for families who currently have to travel further for these services.
The projects are being implemented in partnership with the Safaricom M-PESA Foundation, a collaboration that continues to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the County.
Before construction begins, the projects are going through an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), which has already included community engagement sessions to gather residents’ input. The EIA report will next be submitted to NEMA for approval, after which the projects will officially commence
