The County Government of Tharaka-Nithi has officially launched the Kilimo na Afya Project, a collaborative initiative with Helen Keller Intl-Kenya and Latter-day Saint Charities aimed at strengthening nutrition, food security, and community health.
The project was launched at Karuku Dispensary in Igambang’ombe Ward during a ceremony presided over by the County Executive Committee Member for Health, Dr. Gichuyia Nthuraku M’Riara, alongside Helen Keller Intl-Kenya Country Director, Peter Ofware.
The initiative seeks to strengthen the connection between agriculture and health by promoting nutrition-sensitive farming, enhancing household food production, and improving the nutritional well-being of vulnerable households, particularly women and children.
Through this partnership, communities will be empowered with knowledge and practical approaches that promote healthier diets, sustainable food production, and improved health outcomes.
