Tharaka Nithi County today received its third fire engine which will operate from Chogoria courtesy of a partnership with United Kingdom’s Bedfordshire fire services at a ceremony in Kathwana.
A Memorandum between Tharaka Nithi and the Bedfordshire organization benefits the county with fire fighting equipment and comprehensive training for operators and rescue teams.
A team of ten trainers from Bedfordshire will be training our fire and rescue team for the next two weeks starting tomorrow.
Bedfordshire fire rescue services officer Mr Paul Fuller lauded the partnership with the County and praised the Tharaka Nithi County fire team who so far have saved over 14 lives perceived to be under high level threat.
Plans are underway to establish a fire rescue and emergency response academy in the County which will equip the community with life saving skills in case of disasters.
