Opening of the New Executive Block

We thank the Almighty God for a milestone achieved today as we converged at the County’s headquarters, Kathwana to open the new executive block.

We thank the residents of Tharaka Nithi County who braved the heat to witness this occasion, as well as the dignitaries that left their busy schedules to join us today.

To our chief guest, Hon. Eugene Wamalwa, Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and ASAL areas, your presence at our function today has gone to show the National Government‘s commitment to safeguarding devolution.

I further support the clarion call from leaders who graced the occasion from Tharaka Nithi County, Meru County and Embu County who have resolved to form an economic, cum political block for the region, in an effort to galvanise our base as a people.

Frameworks to enable youth, men and women to access money, offered by the county

The leadership of Tharaka Nithi County had the privilege of hosting the cabinet secretary for Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Prof. Margaret Kobia.

Together with, Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene and the county’s women rep Beatrice Nkatha, we oversaw a series of activities being funded by the National Government in the county including the opening of a Huduma Centre in Chuka town where the County Government has set up a stand.

Joining Christian Faithfuls in Kiambu County

Today I joined the Christian faithful of Kiambu county, whom under the invitation of Governor Ferdinand Waititu, welcomed me, on behalf of the great people of Tharaka Nithi County.

The message in the churches we visited was unity for a purpose.

Together with H.E the deputy president William Ruto, we also sold the jubilee agenda and out of our meeting, we have been able to get a promise to better the lives of the people of Tharaka Nithi.

To this end, we have also affirmed his visit for 30th June.

Upgrading our Roads

As part of our development agenda for Tharaka Nithi County, we have set out a plan to upgrade roads after the rains in an effort to reduce pain on our roads.

Today, we have launched construction, repairs and murraming of Kangoro – Rubate road and Kwa Mati – Ruguti road.

Works have already began and this will be the case in most parts of the county.

Taking Care of Our Environment

As the world comes together every year to celebrate Environment Day, a question always begs, what should be done differently?

Time and again this question has recurred as ways of keeping our habitat clean are sought.

In Tharaka Nithi, I have called on the youth, who make up a majority of the populace, to seek innovative solutions to beating the ban on plastic bags.

Celebrating Madaraka Day

I joined Kenyans in celebrating the 55th Madaraka Day in Meru County.
The National Government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta presided over the event in our neighbouring County.

Our County was well represented by Chuka Dancers who had an honour of playing before the president.
I associate myself with remarks by President Kenyatta on combatting corruption at all levels.
Happy Madaraka Day.

Happy Madaraka Day!

As the country turns 55, we celebrate the great strides made towards realisation of the freedoms enjoyed today.
It is prudent that as the citizenry of this great nation, we come together, join hands and build this nation into what our forefathers envisioned when they fought for independence and later attained self-rule.

Reviving Tourism in Tharaka Nithi County

The resolve to revive tourism in Tharaka Nithi County is now awakened.

Together with relevant officials in the tourism ministry and other stakeholders we toured some of the breathtakingly scenic sites in our County, and with the help of the Kenya Wildlife Service, we learned about the great potential the sector holds

Call to use Social Media Positively

I have today challenged youth to use social media positively. For long, social media has been used for the wrong purposes and has on some occasions led to loss of lives.

In Tharaka Nithi County, the youth should lead by example and use social media to impact the society positively. We have success stories that have seen social media platforms such as WhatsApp groups being turned into investment groups.
