It was an honour for the people of Tharaka Nithi County as they hosted the country’s First Lady H.E Margaret Kenyatta and her Zimbabwe counterpart H.E Amia Auxillia Mnangagwa as we commissioned the Kajuki Water Treatment Plant together with Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Mr Simon Chelugui.
The milestone spearheaded by the Tharaka Nithi County Government in partnership with the National Government, Kenya Red Cross and the Ram Katha Famine Relief Fund, is one of its kind and is projected to provide about 25,000 litres per day and benefit approximately 5000 people.
The County Government has committed to maintaining the plant in its first year as it manages water treatment. Thereafter the water plant management committee is expected to take over.
The water from the plant will go a long way to providing safe and clean water for the residents.
This plant is among several the county, in partnership with development partners, will put up in line with our promise of providing this important resource.
The plant is also part of the County’s Integrated Water Master Plan and I am thankful to our leaders H.E Eng. Francis Kagwima, Nyandarua Senator Hon Mwangi Kithiomi, Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene, who was the host and Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki, Red Cross Kenya Chairman Abbas Gullet and a host of other local leaders.
God bless Tharaka Nithi County.
