Kathwana is among 10 municipalities picked for funding by the United Kingdom International Development ( UKaid) after a highly competitive process.
Today I held a meeting with representatives from the Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED), who are facilitating the funding to the qualifying municipalities to the tune of 60 million pounds (Kshs 8billion).
Our winning proposal resulted from concerted efforts by a competent County team that burned the midnight oil to submit and successfully defend the document that impressed the judges who chose Kathwana Municipality among the 10, a move that will transform and help realize our dream of a planned headquarter and municipality as a whole.
In attendance were members of the County Assembly, Kathwana Municipality Board members, Chamber of Commerce representatives and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)
Towards end of last year, Ukaid announced the funding that attracted submissions from about 53 municipalities countrywide, and ours was among the winning bids.
God bless Tharaka Nithi County.
