Kathwana is officially a Municipality with the launch of the approved spatial development plan, the latest in Kenya, and the building embargo lifted.
The plans we have for our headquarters go beyond our lifetimes, and the 342 square kilometers the Municipality covers is the area the National Government gazetted.
With the launch of approved spatial plan, we have commsioned the tarmacking of Kathwana Town roads.
The plan in addition paves way for construction of official residences of the governor, deputy governor and the County Assembly Speaker within the municipality.
We will construct the most modern market in Kathwana as well as a state-of-the-art multipurpose social hall. Also coming up are public officers housing and a club, all geared towards supporting the development of Kathwana City.
The County Government has also unveiled a fleet of equipment that will be used to build and maintain roads within Tharaka Nithi. These include excavators, dozers and other service vehicles and machinery.
I have commissioned a team of plant operators who will be behind the wheels of the movers.
With this milestone, there is no looking back as we put our County among the fastest growing counties.
Many thanks to all leaders from the national government who included the County Commisioner and her retinue of administrators, members of the County Assembly, staff of TNCG and Kathwana Municipality Board.
A big appreciation to residents who thronged the headquarters to witness transformation of our municipality.
As we move into the next phase of our municipality development, I would like to advise that Igambang’ombe is a Gazetted sub-county and urge residents to fully embrace the town status which will benefit their region greatly.
God bless Tharaka Nithi County.
